We adopted a two year old dog from the local humane society a week ago, and she developed a limp after a long walk. We didn’t have history on our stray but knew that she’s defensive/reactive to other dogs and people if they were physical with her, e.g. picking her up, which one can imagine makes completing a thorough leg exam very difficult. We want to thank Dr. Jette and her vet tech team for trying to coax the dog without meds first, and then using sedation to keep her non-anxious so that our new furbaby would not associate vet visits as a bad experience. We also appreciate Dr. Jette explaining her findings as she moved throughout her exam. A professional’s time is a valuable billable resource, so when a vet spends extra time and care on a flat charge visit to make a dog more comfortable, it really demonstrates the clinic’s dedication to their patients and paw-parents. Mega-mahalo and kudos!
Decided to take my Golden Doodle here to get a second opinion. He’s 11 years old and having some hip issues. Went on YELP and found Dr. Takaesu with a 5-Star rating. She treated a 15 years old Golden Retriever. She suggested to get a X-ray to check my dog spine and hip, also blood test, etc. I never done that before and wanted to see the results. Apparently it wasn’t as bad as my other veterinarian said, Dr. Takaesu pointed out to me his spine looks ok , has slight arthritis in his left leg. As of now with no pain yet, wait and see if he needs pain medicine in the future. Dr. Takaesu took the time to explain everything what’s going on with my dog old age. She has excellent customer service and understanding. I will be switching Doctor to Waipahu Pet Hospital. They also have Dog Boarding for reasonable price. Aloha, Derek
Our Malinois cut his foot jumping into our jeep at 12pm. WWPH was able to squeeze us into an appt at 1:45 AND was done by 2:30pm. With a couple sutures and meds to go home, Blitz was on his way to his recovery as his crackhead self. The staff is amazing too! Happy to have them as our Vet!
Had such a great experience here! Dr. Jenna Strapple was able to take my partner's cat in for a gastrotomy (foreign body stomach surgery) when every other place we called either 1. couldn't take us in due to understandingly overwhelming schedule, 2. quoted over $10k, or 3. simply turned us away (these were, in fact, emergency vet hospitals) From the moment we walked in, we felt taken care of. The sweet receptionist who helped us check in was SO warm and kind, and went above and beyond to comfort my understandably distraught partner. She truly set the tone for the entire visit, and I hope she gets the recognition she deserves. Dr. Strapple did the initial intake and did a thorough exam prior to anything. She was reassuring and communicative throughout the whole process and did an excellent job with my partner's cat's surgery. She explained everything well during the discharge process as well. Our cat's incision is healing well and we are so elated for all he hard work she, her overnight DVM colleagues, and the paraprofessional team provided for us. Highly highly recommend Waipahu Waikele for surgeries, you will not get a better price point WITH patient care anywhere else on the island.
I never write reviews on here, but i felt so compelled to write a review about this outstanding vet clinic. I’ve take my 13y/o staffie here for his monthly labrella and adequan for a while now. Along with that, i have also been seen for around 3 various emergency type visits. One for urinary retention and for his chronic IVDD symptoms. My dog was seen mostly recently by Dr. Pokraka for a suspected IVDD flare up. I was so impressed with his care. I could see he really took the time to assess my dog thoroughly, as well as get a detailed history of my dog along with meds he takes. He took the time to talk to me regarding my concerns and offered the best options for his treatment as well as tweeking some of his pain management meds. I felt like he really took the time to get his clinical history from me. He put together a treatment plan for my dog and i left my appointment feeling confident that my dog truly got the best care and recommendations. Also, the staff here are unmatched. They even called ahead of his appointment to ask is we needed accommodations (I.e gurney) from the car into the clinic. We ended up declining, but i really appreciated the forethought. If my dog wasnt already established with a vet i would go here. For anything emergent, this place is my #1go to recommendation.
