My sister and her family love this restaurant. There was a newer location that opened near them but they still prefer to drive further to this location. This time, we had a party of seven (4 adults + 2 kids + 1 baby). We got there at around 5 on a Saturday and waited maybe about 10 minutes. Our waitress seemed nice but she must have been new because she was kind of terrible. She didn’t even know how to start our grill (turns out you need to add water first so that you don’t start a grease fire, which she wasn’t aware of. Kind of concerning). She would forget a lot of items, we’d have to ask for items multiple times (including basics like water or utensils), and she would constantly bring out incorrect items). Our grate was also never changed (again, probably due to lack of training) until we asked, since some of our meats were starting to taste burnt. Avoid the cooked menu items. The kimchi fried rice and japchae were terrible. Stick to the meats. My top three dishes were still the Hawaiian steak, honey soy beef belly, and pork cheek. So it’s nice to see that at least the quality of the meats have remained the same. It just seems like they might have a really high turnover rate and waiters don’t receive adequate training, probably due to that fact. Although I enjoyed most of the food, I think this second experience of bad service is enough to not make me want to come back a third time.

We arrived after 12 and there were a few parking stalls available. Service was prompt and friendly. Since it was our first time here they explained how to order. The portions were generous. However the taste was so so. You can get better kimchi fried rice snd japchae elsewhere. The sesame oil was not flavorful and had no sesame taste. Only thing i enjoyed was the hotteok, pickled onion and pickled cucumbers. At least we tried it once, but i would hesitate coming back.

A genuinely disgusting dining experience. As soon as we sat down my wife mentioned a gross smell. We didn't figure out until we had finished eating that it was rancid overflowing fat leaking out from underneath the table. If the dining room is this unclean, I can only imagine what the kitchen looks like. This is on top of many of the food items being unavailable, bad meat quality, and extremely long waits just to have raw meat brought to your table. The only positive was our server was very friendly and trying her best.

Janelle is an absolute ROCKSTAR at Gen Korean BBQ!!! Hands down one of the best servers we’ve ever had. Super friendly, high energy, always on point, and made sure our table was perfect the entire time. Food kept coming, drinks were never empty, and the vibe was A+ because of her. She made the whole experience next level. If Janelle is working, you’re winning — ask for her!!

This happens everytime we come. We love the menu but man the service is terrible. The appetizers came after we were halfway through meal. They “were behind” on rice, so we got the rice after we were mostly done. The first thing we ordered never came after they told us they kept re-ordering it. The server blames the kitchen but we can see the dish we ordered getting filled for other tables with other servers. The tables are not pre-bussed so you are sitting amongst raw meat dishes trying to eat your dessert. You get your own napkins. They put all the pancakes for all the people on one dish and didn’t bring clean plates so we got our own napkins to eat off of. The manager came and couldn’t do anything. She went off to check on the missing order and never came back. Men’s bathroom was greasy and debris all over the floor. The women’s didn’t have any paper towels. Just really disappointing experience. Why we keep coming back. For pork belly sirloin and kalbi. Ridic.
